National Honor Society
Marathon High School has had a charter with The National Honor Society since 1977. Over the years, students who demonstrated the highest ideals in the areas of Scholarship, Character, Service, and Leadership have been recognized. This year the faculty council with help from the NHS president, Principal Mr. Beranek, and the staff at MHS made adjustments to the selection process. The goal of these adjustments was to provide student candidates with additional guidance for filling out the activity form and to provide all students with examples of expectations in these four areas.
Students are selected to be candidates for the NHS based first on their scholarship. This is determined by their accumulative GPA. After they have been identified student candidates are provide information and an activity form to fill out if they wish to proceed in the selection process.
The faculty and the faculty committee understand and take seriously the importance of the evaluation process. Although not all students make the final selection we encourage all students to continue to focus their lives on the four principles of NHS; Scholarship, Character, Service, and Leadership.
